WHAT IS YOUR ASSIGNMENT?

"Moses my servant is dead; Now therefore arise, go over, and walk on every piece of ground I've given you". Joshua 1:1 (paraphrased). Early this morning during my meditation from Joshua 1:1-5, I realized that God is giving Joshua the responsibility to FOCUS AND PERFORM. The Lord is describing the territory, giving the actual borders so there would be no way Joshua could misunderstand the task. If we don't FOCUS and doesn't understand the assignment, the days, the weeks, the year will go before we know it. It's said the average Americans spend far more time planning Christmas and vacations than thinking about what to do with their whole life. Here God is telling Joshua, I don't want you to do this, this, or this. Here is what I want. ARISE, GO OVER, HERE ARE THE BORDERS, YOU GO IN AND SETTLE THAT PROPERTY. THAT'S YOUR ASSIGNMENT. The question is "DO YOU KNOW YOUR ASSIGNMENT"? Have you ever asked the Lord what is your assignment? MAN- Stop watching that TV for hours. Somebody is making money while you are wasting your time watching them. TADA. Come on, be serious. It's your life....YEAH YEAH. GOOOOD.

DON'T DISCRIMINATE!!

During my devotion this morning from James 2:1-13, I noticed that James is addressing "FAVORITISM" happening in our churches. In fact, he devoted an entire section of this epistle to address this problem. It is a fact that five areas where we can be tempted to discriminate. We can discriminate on the basis of 1) APPEARANCE 2) ANCESTRY 3) AGE 4) ACHIEVEMENT and 5) AFFLUENCE. 6) SOCIAL STATUS. Brother, don't tell me you don't do that in your church. When a divorced woman comes to the church why we blind ourselves to the reality, to the pains, to her gifts, to her needs and turn our face away ignoring the unexpected tragedy in her life? When people come along who are physically disabled, we label them disabled, and we thereby blind ourselves to the infinite treasure they have to offer us. Hey, aren't we harboring a secret prejudice or hatred? Well, just a thought!!

SAYING THE WRONG THING!!

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver". Proverbs 25:11. Words! Words! Words! Sometimes they come by the gallon while the thoughts come by the spoonful, isn't it? Let me admit it- I am guilty. During my recent mission trip I met a friend of mine whom I had not seen in last ten years. "How is your wife?" I asked him. "She's in heaven", was the reply. "Oh, I'm sorry"- I said. Then I realized that didn't sound right. So I added "I mean, I'm glad". Now that sounded even worse. I finally blurted out with, "Well, I'm surprised". After that incident I told myself "THINK MAN THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK"! Hot words inflame human relationships, but cool words never scald a tongue or burn a listener. Am I right? YEAH?

AIM HIGH!!!

In my life I realized that if I want to do something and impact my generation, I have to challenge the tide of convention, stretch the boundaries of traditions, violate the expectation of status quo, upset the mind of average, and shatter the wit of the norm. Hey, hey, each of us has the ability to impact our generation in just such a dramatic fashion because we have the strength, self-sufficiency, and anointing of the Holy Spirit and our Lord Christ Jesus dwells in us. Brother, you don't want to live and die like an animal in this world, do you? Well do you? AIM HIGH MAN_ AIM HIGH!!!

Are you the Older brother?

"Meanwhile, the OLDER Son was in the field...he came near the house, he asked what was going on..your brother has come. The older brother became angry and refused to go in..Luke: 15: 25-28. Sounds like a lot of church folks now a days, isn't it? He never left, no wild living, no drink, no drug, never smoke or chew. The problem was HE WAS NEVER ANYTHING ELSE. Just there, in the way, in the house, taking up space, never helped anybody, never changed anything- right? There with religious righteousness, his manuals, dress code, ideas, concepts, doctrines about who is right who is wrong, who is in- who is out. MEAN- me- mE- ME attitude. Jesus said "I will make you fishers of men". These folks want cleaned fish who are in their protocol and narrow mind. Sound familiar- YEAH. Sometimes church folks show more love when you are in the hog pin! My friend, change your attitude and behavior-OK. BE LIKE JESUS!!!
