Winning or losing?

Being a Christian, whether you realize it or not, you are a part of a deadly war between light and darkness. You cannot afford to be ignorant and you cannot be neutral. If you try to be neutral you are going to find yourself in the most dangerous place of all. The day you make a commitment to Jesus Christ is the day a very real spiritual war begins in your life. Conversion makes our hearts a battlefield. There is a battle going on, and God is calling you to be in it! It is a spiritual battle, waged not against men but against the rulers and powers of darkness. So if you are not properly equipped you will be defeated. You must be armed with girdle of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation. You must have taken up the sword of the Spirit so that you have an offensive weapon with which to fight, and you must be constantly in prayer so that you have the mind of Christ at all times. Only then can you hope to defeat Satan and achieve victory. Ephesians: 6:10-17.

In the Old Testament we find a righteous man faced same kind of battle in his life. “In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright, “ he feared God and shunned evil” (Job: 1:1). Without Job’s knowing it, a dialogue took place in the invisible world. As the Lord and Satan had their strange encounter, the subject quickly turned to this well-known earthly man. The Lord calls Satan’s attention to Job’s exemplary life, and Satan’s responds with a sinister sneer. “Of course, who wouldn’t serve you the way you’ve prospered and protected him. Take away all the perks and watch what happens; the man will turn on you in a flash.” God agrees to let the adversary unload on Job. And so, in today’s terms, the Lord bet Satan that Job would never turn on Him. A “divine wager agreement” was established. Satan instigates a sudden and hostile removal of all the man’s possessions, leaving him bankrupt. Within a matter of minutes, everything he owned was gone. Job had no prior knowledge or warning. That morning dawned like every other morning. The night had passed like any other night. There was no great angelic manifestation, not even a tap on his window or a note left on the kitchen table. In one calamity after another, all the buildings on his land are gone, and nothing but lumber and bodies litter the landscape. It occurred so fast, Job’s mind swirled in disbelief. His entire world instantly changed. Just like in Job’s life, we never know what this battle will bring in our life. Things will unfold apart from our awareness. With proper armors and readiness, we can win this battle. Ours is a walk of faith, not sight; trust, not touch. Leaning long and hard, not running away. It could be a test that drops us to our knees or it may be a treasured blessing, our heavenly father already provided us with weapons of warfare. Let’s put on it and fight a good fight.

As believers you are part of God’s army, called to do battle with devil. But if you are not armed and equipped, with a battle plan and a clear line of communication to our Commander-in Chief, you will be defeated. Satan is a shrewd and ruthless enemy, and if you are going to fight him you must be properly armed. You must put on “the whole armor” not just the pieces that are most comfortable.

The Girdle Of Truth- The Believer’s Integrity

A soldier in Paul’s day had a leather girdle that he tightened about his waist to protect his loins and carry his weapons of warfare, such as a dagger or sword. The belt also held his tunic together so it wouldn’t be snagged. In Christian armor, it is integrity that holds everything else together. If you do not have integrity in the big and small things of your life, you are going to lose the battle. Without truth everything falls apart. Satan will come against you with lies and bring a lack of integrity into your life. Jesus is the Truth and will strengthen you with His integrity. Would people say that you are a man or woman of integrity? If not, then you cannot win the battle.

The Breastplate of Righteousness- The believer's purity

The breastplate of a soldier was sometimes made of woven chain. Whatever the material, the purpose was same, to cover the soldier’s vital organs. For Christian, the breastplate is righteousness. The enemy wants to attack you not only with lies, but also with impurity. He wants you to read filthy magazines, watch immoral movies, and engage in all temptations of the flesh. The bottom line is that Satan wants to get into your heart and mind. He’s looking for a crack in your armor. And don’t be fooled. Satan knows where that crack is. Is your heart pure before God? If not, then you cannot win the battle.

The Shoes Of Peace-The Believer’s Tranquility

A Roman soldier needed good shoes in order to be victorious on the battlefield. Oftentimes, his shoes would have hobnails on the sole, very much like football cleats because when they were fighting they needed solid footing from which to move. Jesus gives us peace and unless you have peace, you can never make war. Sounds like a contradiction, doesn’t it? But you’ve got to have the peace of God in your heart first. When Satan comes against your tranquility, he throws out stones and briars of doubts and discouragement to cause you to stumble. Do you have peace now? If not, then you cannot win the battle.

The Shield of Faith- The believer’s Certainty

The Roman soldier’s shield measured approximately two by four feet and was made of wood covered with leather. In that day, soldiers dipped arrows in oil, then lit them and shot them at the enemy. These shields were vital to protect the soldier from getting wounded and burned. Satan is going to fire flaming arrows of doubts at you. He wants to place subtle doubts in your mind about God and His Truth. He knows a spark can ignite a big fire. You will need to feed your faith and starve your doubts. Are there any seeds of doubt in your mind today? If there are, then you cannot win the battle.

The Helmet Of Salvation- The believer’s Sanity

A soldier used a helmet to protect his head because if his head is wounded, he wouldn’t be able to think. Every believer needs to have the mind of Christ under the control of Almighty God. When person is saved, for the first time he has the right mind. A person without the Lord Jesus Christ has a form of insanity. They do not operate with the mind that God made them to have. The most important thing for you to have at all times is an assurance of your salvation. Do you know that you are saved? If you do not have the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ and if you cannot control your thoughts, then you cannot win the battle.

The Sword Of The Spirit- The believer’s Assault Rifle

The “sword of the Spirit” is our assault rifle. Until now, all the armor has been defensive. Now we come to our offensive weapons- the Word of God. In Mathew 4, Jesus confronted Satan with three simple words: “It is written…”And then He quoted passages from Deuteronomy to defeat Satan. Think of areas in which you know Satan will tempt you, find some Bible verses relating to those areas, write them on little cards, and put them where you see them often. Memorize them. Learn them by heart, and be ready to use them when the Enemy confronts you. Avoid in putting yourself in vulnerable position so that you will be an easy target. Do you have the “Sword of the Spirit”? If not, you will be always in the defensive posture and cannot drive the enemy away.

Be dressed for battle, keep your armor on, and when it’s all over but the shouting, you’ll still be on your feet.

CRITICISM

When I was in the undergraduate studies in a college, one of our assignments was to read a Greek Mythology book, called Hercules. The story was very interesting reading with a moral in it. One day, Hercules was walking down the road when he was attacked by a beast. He beat him off with his club and went his way. But when he was turning the next curve, there was the beast again. This time the beast was three times bigger than the last time. Once again Hercules tried to beat the beast off. To his surprise, Hercules found out that with his each blow, the beast grew larger and larger. Finally, Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, appeared and told him that the beast name was "Strife" and that if it was left alone it would become as small or smaller than it was before.
Criticism is like that. It is painful to take criticism especially from some one whom we never expected from criticizes you. Often our first response is to strike back when we were criticized. I know, because in the early part of my ministry my critics said such unbelievable and unsubstantiated things about me I wanted to tell them off and shut their mouth. But I remembered my English Language professor who told us, "Class, don't ever strike back, if you are in the right and has a pure conscience before God. God will vindicate you and you cannot shut down truth for ever". Through the years of my ministry, I found what he said is true.
Trust yourself to God, and He will vindicate you- if you don't strike back!

"For even to this were you called [it is inseparable from your vocation]. For Christ also suffered for you, leaving you [His personal] example, so that you should follow in His foot steps. He was guilty of no sin, neither was deceit(guile) ever found on His lips. When He was reviled and insulted. He did not revile or offer insult in return;[when] He was abused and suffered, He made no threats [of vengeance]; but He trusted[Himself and everything] to Him Who judges fairly".
1 Peter: 2.21-23. Amplified Version.

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God". KJV.
2 Corinthians:1. 3-4.

MINISTRY UPDATE

During the months of October and November 2008, Pastor Samuel Isaac, Saramma Isaac, and a medical team went to visit and to encourage pastors, believers, young missionaries and their families. A team of four doctors, three registered nurses and supporting staffs conducted the medical camps. During the evenings, Gospel meetings were conducted, as well. We had experienced a tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit in those meetings. Hundreds came forward to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. The Lord confirmed His Word through signs, miracles, and wonders. Many demon-possessed people were delivered by Jesus’ name. More than 4,000 people were in attendance each day of the “Blessing Aurangabad” Crusade. Gospel Meetings and Medical camps were conducted in remote villages like Thuljapur, Israwadi, Bethel Gavu, Rajapur, Nardurbar, Amen Chowk, Ratnapuri, Navapur and Aurangabad. World Mission 360 is still conducting its Feeding Program in Aurangabad.

PRAISE REPORT

Greetings in the name of the soon coming King, our Lord Jesus Christ! His loving kindness is everlasting (Psalms 138:8). As we celebrate what the Lord is doing in the mission field with thanksgiving, we are obliged to the Lord and thank you for your faithful prayers and support in the past months.

Praise Reports:

As of July 2008, 25 Bible School students have graduated and were sent out into the North Indian Villages to pioneer new churches. These native missionaries will be planting churches, will be helping the communities by doing compassion projects and reaching close to 50 villages. They are fulfilling the vision the Lord gave us in the 2006 of creating 2000 new churches. These men will be working under the leadership of our area leaders. Many of them have come from other backgrounds and have been thrown out of their homes, yet they have tremendous zeal for the Lord. Please pray that the Lord will give them continuous boldness to speak the Word in the unfriendly environment they minister. We are very happy to report that the 30 churches World Mission 360 has helped to plant are growing tremendously. Many souls are getting saved and more than a hundred young people are dedicated to Lord's service and are waiting for sponsors so support them for Bible school training. Three more church buildings are under construction and we are hoping that these will be completed soon. A new group of 20 Bible students enrolled in 2009.

Please Pray:

Please pray for our feeding programs. We need sponsors for this program. Food is very expensive and funds are rapidly depleting. Jesus is restoring their life and opening a new way for them to stand on their feet and be believers in the local churches. Funds are needed to support poor students for their school and college education. Sponsors are needed for vocational and trade training. Several houses need to be built for the poor people who lost their dwellings due to persecution, natural calamities, and those who cannot afford. Medical Camps are the means to help them in their physical needs and we need funding to purchase medicines, air ticket, and meet land transportation expenses. The ministry of compassion is opening the hearts of the people for the Gospel, and many are accepting Jesus as their personal Savior.

Pray for the Christians who are suffering as a result of ongoing conflicts. Pray for an end to the fighting. Even though the church is persecuted, the good Lord is touching and delivering people from their sins and baptisms are happening in large numbers.

Calling all Prayer Warriors:

We, as believers, are the body of Christ (Eph. 5:30). A body needs a system for carrying life-giving oxygen and nutrients to the various organs. Prayer is the lifeblood. It is through prayer that we receive our instruction and blessings from God, and He receives glory. I call upon all our prayer partners to urgently pray for the ministry needs, missionaries, area leaders, Bible school students, teachers and for our mission trips.

Yours in the ministry of Jesus Christ,
Pastor Samuel Isaac, President

SAVED BY GRACE

"For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving ], but it is the gift of God; not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.] Ephesians 2:8,9.

I have heard a story about a man's dream. He dreamed that he was standing before God outside heaven. God said, "It takes hundred points to enter heaven. What have you done that totals hundred points? "I taught Sunday School," the man said proudly. "But you always complained about getting up so early to do it," God reminded him. "No points". I remember having the pastor over for dinner once." God replied, "But you fed him soup instead of sharing the steak you had hidden in your refrigerator. "No points.""Hmmm, let me see. I loved all my friends," he said. "But you rarely liked anybody else," God said. "No points." "At this rate," the man said,"I will enter heaven only by the grace of God!". "That is hundred points," God declared. "Come on in".

Needless to say, it does not take points to get in to heaven, but it does take the grace of God. Salvation is not something we earn. God gives it to us. That is what grace is all about-God's riches at Christ's expense. He died on the cross for us so that we could have eternal life by merely believing in Him. Now, we are to be good and do good in life-but in response to God's acceptance of us, not to gain His acceptance.

"But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace ( the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me." 1 Corinthians 15:10.

In this passage Apostle Paul rightfully ascribes praise to God for his present state of grace and then states that the grace of God was not bestowed upon him in vain. His reasons for saying this are interesting. "I worked harder than all of them, he says. It appears that good works are the language of grace, and that evidence that the grace of God is not bestowed in vain may be seen in the obedient attitude of the Christian, and yet Paul says that his obedience is but the outworking of the grace of God within him. This great summary of the gospel should put at rest the theory of some that works are somehow a betrayal of faith and that the two contradicts each other. Works are the outgrowth of faith and God's grace bestowed.

The story of the tightrope walker Blondin, crossing Niagara Falls is well known in the world. Sometimes in one of the Blondin's public performances, a poor Italian man would allow himself to be carried on his back across the falls, to the great terror of the spectators. Few years later, while visiting this Italian man on his death bed, and was much concerned about the salvation of his soul, a local pastor asked him whether he ever had any fear that Blondin might fail. "No", the man said, "he was a very able man". "Then you trusted him with your life because you believed he would not fall". "Oh, yes. He would not let me fall", the answer came. Then the pastor tried to show the dying man that he must trust Jesus for salvation with the same confidence.

Works are an out growth of faith. Confidence in Blondin moved this man to trust him with his life. Confidence in a Pilot makes us to board a plane and fly. Confidence and faith in five inches wide, 4 tires of our car, filled with air, make us to drive thousands of miles with our precious family. Confidence, and faith in Christ should move us to trust Him with our salvation, eternal life, for JESUS NEVER FAILS.
